Sally Joo Bailey, M.D. is a diplomate of the American Board of Allergy & Immunology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy Asthma & Immunology and the American College of Allergy Asthma and Immunology. She is board certified in Adult and Pediatric Allergy & Immunology since 2003 and recertified in 2013.
Academic Affiliations: Dr. Bailey currently serves as an Assistant Professor at Georgetown University Hospital; Division of Allergy & Immunology. She is directly involved in training residents as well as medical students. She previously served as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Allergy, Immunology & Pulmonary at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Weil Cornell University in New York, NY for three years before returning to Northern Virginia.
Training: Dr. Bailey’s training began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She remained at Duke University, Department of Microbiology as well as at Duke University Medical Center, Department of Neurology as a research fellow participating in the prestigious Howard Hughes Fellowship. She attended medical school at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, where she had previously excelled in the Governor’s program for the gifted in life sciences during middle and high school in Tampa, Florida. She was awarded the excellence award in laboratory research as well as the prestigious National Academy of Applied Sciences Award. Dr. Bailey received her internship and residency training in Pediatrics at Georgetown University Medical Center, where she received the Pearl Award for Excellence in Teaching by the Georgetown University School of Medicine. After completing her residency, Dr. Bailey pursued fellowship training at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland in Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology, where she actively contributed to research in the areas of food allergy, allergic rhinitis, and asthma.

Publications/Research: Dr. Bailey was a reviewer for the medical journal, Pediatrics, Best Articles Relevant to Pediatric Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology from 2001-2012. She has published articles in various medical journals as well as contributed to medical book chapters and serves as an advisor for food allergy groups. She participates in The Johns Hopkins Allergy & Immunology Journal Club and lectures.
Dr. Bailey recently presented new food allergy research data at the 2009 AAAAI national annual meeting and published an abstract of the data in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, supplement 2009.
Dr. Bailey has been an invited speaker to several Emergency Rooms, Hospitals, Private Practices, and Intensive Care Units to speak on Anaphylaxis, Food Allergy, Asthma, and Urticaria. Dr. Bailey is a medical advisor for Toddler 411, Safe at School Program, and Nova Food Allergy. She is a wife and mother, who enjoys gardening, cooking, traveling, and tennis.

Office manager/biller: Wendy Escobar has been in the medical administrative field for over 20 years. She enjoys cooking and traveling. She has lived in Northern Virginia for over 20 years with her family.
Medical Assistants: Lana is a graduate of Barry College and is in a graduate program at GW. She enjoys rowing on the Poromac, music, friends, and baking. She comes from a medical military family. Her father is a physician. She has been with us since 2022. Michael is a graduate of George Mason and lives in Vienna. He enjoys snowboarding, cooking, and time with his friends. He is interested in a career in medicine. He is one of the MAs administering allergy injections and allergy skin testing. He has been with us since 2022. Huda is a graduate of George Mason and grew up locally in Vienna, VA. She is the most recent to join our team this year. She has a passion for patient advocacy and volunteers. Sadhana is finishing her bachelor’s degree at GW. She is in the Honors program and is a Presidential Scholar. She is trained and certified as an EMT.
